Article I - Name
The name of this organization shall be the Ohio Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges (OhioMATYC).
Article II - Objectives
The primary purpose of OHIOMATYC is to provide structures on a state-wide level for two-year college mathematics teachers to share information, learn, and work together to improve the mathematics education of students.
In addition, OHIOMATYC exists to promote the professional development of its members and serves as liaison to other organizations (within the state and without) concerned with mathematics education.
Article III - Membership
Mathematics teachers in any Ohio two-year institution or any other person in sympathy with two-year college mathematics and interested in the purposes of the Association shall be eligible for membership. Anyone eligible for membership becomes a member upon payment of the annual dues.
Article IV - Dues
Dues shall be paid by all members annually at the rate set by the Executive Committee of OhioMATYC.
Article V - Officers
The officers of the association shall be President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer. The term of office for President shall be two years. The term of office for Secretary and Treasurer shall be two years with the Treasurer being elected in an odd year and the Secretary being elected in an even year. The term of office for Past-President and President-Elect will be one year, with the President-Elect being elected in an odd year.
Article VI - Government
The Association shall be governed by the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall consist of the officers, the immediate past President, the Newsletter Editor, the Awards Coordinator, and the chairmen of all standing committees.
Article VII - Committees
Committees shall be established by the Executive Committee in order to achieve the objectives of the Association. Committees shall be dissolved by the Executive Committee.
Article VIII - Elections
The election of officers shall be held annually as prescribed by the By-Laws.
Article IX - Meetings
The Association shall have one regular meeting each year, ordinarily held in the spring. Other meetings shall be held as determined by the Executive Committee.
Article X - By-Laws
By-Laws to carry out the provisions of this Constitution shall be proposed for adoption.
Article XI - Amendments
This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority of the members present at any meeting of the Association, provided notice of the proposed amendment shall have been given to every member one month in advance of the meeting at which the amendment is to be voted upon. Proposed amendments shall be received by the Executive Committee no later than three weeks before notification to the membership is due.
Article XII - Distribution of Funds
The Executive Committee shall direct the Treasurer to pay for services rendered and supplies needed to achieve the objectives of the Association.
Upon dissolution of the Association, the Executive Committee shall make provision for the payment of all just debts of the Association, and shall see to the transfer of any remaining assets to another non-profit organization with similar objectives as the Association.
Article XIII - Parliamentary Authority
The rules contained in Robert's Rules of order shall govern OHIOMATYC in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the Constitution of the Association.
